This was the second of two homes we completed for the same client in Historic Waterloo - and wrapping up a back-to-back job like this one means a lot to us. When a homeowner trusts you with one home, that's great. When they come back and hand you the keys to a second one, that says everything.

We went with Owens Corning Duration shingles in Teak for this one. It's a warm, natural-looking color that fits right in with the character of the neighborhood. But looks aren't the only reason we recommend Duration - these shingles carry a Class 3 impact resistance rating, which matters here in Iowa where hail and severe weather are a real part of life. That extra layer of durability isn't something you can see once the job is done, but you'll be glad it's there when a storm rolls through.

Here's what the process actually looks like under the surface. Before a single shingle goes down, the old material comes off and we lay down a high-quality synthetic underlayment across the entire deck. You can see the Ultimate Pro underlayment fully installed on the roof before shingles were set - full coverage, no shortcuts. That layer is your home's secondary line of defense against moisture if anything ever gets past the shingles above.

Doing two homes for the same client back to back means the second job has to be just as tight as the first. There's no coasting on goodwill. We hold ourselves to the same standard on every single roof, whether it's the first job or the tenth for someone.

Protecting homes in Historic Waterloo - and doing it right - is something we take seriously. These are real neighborhoods with real history, and the people who live here deserve a roof that's built to last.
